Studio Nyandak provides pro bono architectural and structural engineering services to the Rato Dratsang based in a major Tibetan refugee settlement in Mundgod, Karnataka in southern India. Our team is working closely with the abbot of the monastery, Geshe Sonam Gyaltsen, to design a new campus for the monastery inspired by the original Rato Dratsang located near Lhasa, Tibet. This masterplan includes classrooms, gathering spaces, monk’s quarters; and a science building, meditation center, guest house, and cafe.
