Central Tibetan Administration Department of Home

The Studio Nyandak Dharamsala team includes an architect and a structural engineer who work as in-house consultants for the Central Tibetan Administration Department of Home on a number of architecture and engineering projects. They are the only architect and engineer working in the Tibetan Government in Exile in India. The Department of Home is responsible for the welfare and rehabilitation of Tibetans living across 45 settlements in India, Nepal, and Bhutan. They work in close cooperation with the Government of India and international organizations to improve infrastructure and the quality of life of Tibetan refugees in exile.

We are offering our knowledge and skillset to foster design excellence and to improve the quality of the built environment in Tibetan refugee settlements across India. Our work includes architectural design, structural engineering, life safety assessment, disaster resiliency, and coordination with contractors and residents throughout India. Recently, our projects have included constructing a community hall, renovating a staff quarters, and making repairs to a retirement home. At any given time, there are more than 30 ongoing projects across India.
